We have reached the last post in this blog series, where we have been exploring different personality types (listed under the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator) and homes that would reflect these personalities.

Your home is your dream canvas – it gives you the opportunity to weave your own unique story and it is a place where your family can create warm memories.

The Guardian (ESTJ - Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging) personality type – The Guardians are extremely straightforward and hardworking – they put a lot of care and effort into whatever they do. They are traditionalists and they have a set of principles that they believe in. They like order and predictability and if they see situations where things are disorganized, they like to take charge and put processes in place to bring in some order. Some famous people with this personality type include Henry Ford, Condoleeza Rice and Michelle Obama.

Decorating tips for the Guardians – ESTJs value order and hence they like their homes to be extremely organized. Task lists displayed and items neatly labelled, will all help in promoting order and preventing stress for ESTJs. The Guardians love large social groups and value friends and family, so their house needs to have spaces for entertaining. Since they are traditionalists, they do not like anything out-of-the-box in their home décor.

INTJs spend a lot of time in their own thoughts and are not very demonstrative of their affection for others. They give a lot of importance to efficiency and clarity and are known to be perfectionists. Famous people who are considered to have the Mastermind personality type are Stephen Hawking, Isaac Asimov and Sir Isaac Newton.

Decorating tips for the Scientists – Since INTJs spend so much time in their thoughts, they need to have a quiet place in their house – their own retreat. They have a thirst for knowledge - they could have a reading nook or library in their house where they could have their space as well as their thinking time. Their house needs to be well organized and since they are good at strategizing, they could come up with innovative ideas for making their house and décor as planned as possible.

The Visionaries (ENTP - Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging) personality type – The Visionaries are clever and extremely curious – they like to absorb ideas and they have the intuition to understand people and situations. They are good conversationalists and enjoy debating issues and engaging and challenging other people. They are people who have a lot of ideas and they get quite excited about their ideas – they are good at thinking creatively and re-inventing the wheel. Famous visionaries include Leonardo da Vinci, Richard Feynman and Steve Wozniak.

Decorating tips for the VisionariesSince Visionaries are idea people, they can come up with creative ideas for their home décor. They love ideas that challenge the status-quo and do not follow any rules while doing up their home. ENTPs tend to jump into carrying out ideas that they have – however, they have a problem following through and completing their projects. Hence, it is good for them to get the help of other personality types who like to follow through and complete tasks.

The Protectors (INFJ - Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging) personality type – The Protectors are gentle, caring and intuitive people. They are generally very creative and artistic. They love to help others and have the ability to understand other people’s motivations and emotions. They do not like any kind of conflict. Famous INFJs include Mohandas Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Florence Nightingale.

Decorating tips for the Protectors – Since INFJs are very artistic, this aspect of their personality should come through in their home décor – it could be a unique grouping of various arts and crafts. They are very caring towards all – especially their families – so their homes celebrate their loved ones – with paraphernalia related to different family members displayed at various points. Conflict of any kind can cause a lot of stress for the Protectors, so they need to have relaxing spaces and soothing colours in their home for them to retreat to, in case of any conflict.

The Idealists (INFP - Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving) personality type – The Idealists are perfectionists who are focussed on making the world a better place for all. They are very thoughtful, kind, flexible and are genuinely interested in understanding other people. They do not like conflict of any kind. They also do not like to deal with logic and hard facts and they are not good at making impersonal judgements. Famous INFPs include J.K.Rowling, John Kerry and William Shakespeare.

Decorating tips for the Idealists – Idealists make some of the best writers– they need a writing nook in their home to pen down their thoughts. Since they are so caring towards others – they like to have a space like a bedroom, where their friends are welcome to stay at any time. They are not very finicky about the upkeep of their home, which means that it is better to make practical choices while choosing their home décor products.

Hope you enjoyed this series – and will use it to understand your personality type and the kind of home décor that you should choose – to make your home a space that reflects you !
